The FIM Freestyle GP World Cup 2026 held its second round this Saturday in San José, Costa Rica, in a night marked by high sporting level and a great atmosphere at the National Stadium. After the opening round in Pamplona, the freestyle motocross world cup championship made its stop in the Americas as part of the X-Knights Costa Rica event, one of the most iconic fixtures on the international FMX calendar. The venue gathered thousands of fans who supported every round with an intense atmosphere, confirming the strong tradition of Costa Rican crowds in this type of event. The competition brought together several of the best riders in the world, delivering a showcase of technique, creativity and risk in every run. Throughout the night, fans witnessed combinations of next-generation tricks, with high levels of difficulty and consistency that raised the standard of the second round of the championship. Victory went to José “Mincha” Canosa, who repeats his win in San José after last year’s triumph and confirms himself as one of the true specialists of the Costa Rican venue. He was joined on the podium by Maikel Melero in second place and Dany Torres in third, both delivering solid performances in a very competitive final. The final also featured one of the most dramatic moments of the night when French rider David Rinaldo, championship leader until this round, had the win within his grasp after a spectacular final run. However, he crashed on his last jump, fortunately without injuries, and was ultimately pushed down to fourth place. With this result, Mincha Canosa moves into the lead of the 2026 FMX World Cup standings ahead of Rinaldo. After two rounds, the title fight is now concentrated at the top of the standings. The second round keeps the championship battle alive ahead of the final round of the calendar, which will decide the 2026 freestyle motocross world champion.
